Marketing & Society Board Member Descriptions
WEBMASTER
Position Description for Webmaster
This is an appointed position for a term to be decided by the individual and the Board. This position requires the ability to develop and promote MAS SIG through the website (www.massig.org). It will require web design and programming skills to develop the website into an informational and promotional tool for MAS SIG.
The webmaster must work closely with all the MAS SIG Board members but especially with the Vice Chair of Communications. This includes uploading and maintaining up-to-date information and newsletters for MAS SIG as well as an archive of past newsletters, information, etc. One of the tasks that the webmaster should work to promote is a listserv for the MAS SIG community similar to that of the ACR Listserv. Currently, people interested in joining the MAS SIG community can go directly to the website and register. The webmaster needs to update the MAS SIG email list and communicate this information to the MAS SIG Board. This information is needed by conference co-chairs and others involved in MAS SIG-related events to promote their events.
In addition, the website should be developed into a resource for teaching public policy and marketing tools, doctoral student information source, and other viable resources of interest to the MAS SIG community. For example: The website currently has a link for News and Resources for Doctoral Students and this needs to be further improved and expanded. This can be done working with the MAS SIG Board to develop these resources. The webmaster is not expected to design and develop these information sources but is expected to bring them together and organize in the online environment while communicating with Board members as to what is needed, etc. Another possibility is to create a set of Journal links with table of contents for journals of interest to our community. Cliff Shultz has already agreed to make the table of contents available for the Journal of Macromarketing. We can expand this to other related journals starting with JPPM, JCR, JCP, etc.
There are many possibilities for using the website to further improve and more effectively communicate our organization to interested groups and the webmaster is expected to work with the MAS SIG Board to accomplish this.
The webmaster must also work closely with the Vice Chair of Communications to help in broadcast messages, publishing the newsletter, updating the VC of Comm on new members of MAS SIG, and posting all documents pertinent to the MAS SIG community.
Another responsibility is communicating with Charlie Hofacker (chofack@cob.fsu.edu) at AMA to coordinate online information sharing with AMA’s website.
