SPECIAL PROGRAMMING

This Director will be responsible for special programming including the doctoral consortiums and any other special seminars related to the AMA conferences and other mini-conferences (The Research in Risk Workshop is not part of the responsibilities of this position). In addition this position will require interfacing with the AMA conference co-chairs and MAS SIG coordinators for these conferences. This also includes communicating with Lynn Brown (lbrown@ama.org) at AMA to coordinate the above special sessions and other conference programming.

Preconference events offer a great way to advance both academic profession development and marketing thoughts for both academics and doctoral students. These events allow participants to explore “hot topics” in depth. MAS SIG is committed to this type of event affiliated with the Marketing & Public Policy conference.  The director will work with the MPPC conference co-chairs (when held in Washington DC) to find funding for the preconference doctoral consortium.  The director will work with the MAS SIG Executive Board to ensure that there are funds included in MAS SIG’s annual budget.

Communicating with William Cron (b.cron@tcu.edu) regarding planning for Winter and Summer AMA preconference events is critical to ensure coordination with AMA.

Communicating with the Vice Chair of Communications to ensure that these preconference events are included in MAS SIG’s newsletters and broadcast emails are also critical to maximizing attendance at these events. All postings of announcements, etc. should be sent the MAS SIG’s webmaster for the massig.org website. It is the responsibility of the Director of Special Programming to ensure that these announcements are made in a timely manner coordinating a communication strategy with both the Vice Chair of Communication and the webmaster.
